Update v0.8.0rc & v0.8.2rc


As the jam’s voting process is still ongoing, I can't update the game yet. However, this doesn’t stop me from sharing some changes and additions I’ve made for a future post-jam update. 

Storm Grill v0.8.0rc Changelog

  • Added red droplets that deal damage based on max health when destroyed intentionally. These are slightly rarer than golden droplets and are not associated with any upgrades.
  • Added feedback for damaging droplets (best addition ever).
  • Added shake effect for required upgrades when hovered over a locked upgrade.
  • Added information about droplets getting stronger in the "tutorial."
  • Added visual feedback on GUI for evaporating golden and red droplets.
  • Made red droplets more durable and golden droplets more fragile.
  • Made droplet destroy sounds play only when a droplet is destroyed, instead of when damaged.
  • Changed "YOU FAILED" on the death screen to "YOU LOST" to make it less hurtful.
  • Made golden and evil droplets more common in the early seconds of the first runs.
  • Made early runs slightly easier.
  • Made Time Travel Way and Time Glitch upgrades cheaper.
  • Fixed a glitch where pausing or dying would cause the attack sound to bug out in specific cases.
  • Fixed a glitch where toggling the pause screen repeatedly could cause it to glitch.
  • Fixed a bug where hits between previous and current locations would not register if movement was too fast.
  • Fixed the "Congratulations" text not finishing typing at the end.

Storm Grill v0.8.2rc Changelog

  • Added an upgrade to decrease the red droplet spawn chance.
  • Added a Golden Heatwave upgrade, giving a chance for golden heatwaves, where you receive significantly more coins per evaporated droplet.
  • Added information to most offensive upgrades clarifying that they do not interact with red droplets.
  • Added a few extra seconds at the end of the game.
  • Made damage upgrades cheaper.
  • Made passive income upgrades cheaper.
  • Improved droplet evaporation particles to better respond to droplet scale.
  • Increased personal droplet evaporation area intensity with damage upgrades.
  • Made balls not interact with red droplets.
  • Added a universal damage flashing effect for all droplets that reduces the risk of causing epilepsy.
  • Made red droplets unaffected by freeze effects.
  • Made red droplets get repelled by the pull upgrade.
  • Fixed balls not triggering sounds.
  • Fixed the evaporation area not repositioning when not activated.
  • Fixed a glitch where buying and refunding too quickly would glitch upgrade colors.
  • Fixed an issue preventing downgrades due to dependent upgrades when they should be allowed.
  • Repositioned most upgrades based on "categories" or "effects."
