Second Update, First Devlog, Leaderboard

Forenote: I haven't wrote a devlog or shared something in this format before, so this is probably a very novice post. But good new is, this is the first one, so it will only get better from here.

Some story about the game and the update if you are into that

So in this update I've generally focused on adding a leaderboard using LootLocker SDK, and I was successful after 2 days of work.  But 1 day of that was almost purely UI design. One would expect the UI to be good if someone has worked on it for a day, but no lmao it still sucks. Mainly because of my scope on the start of the project.

I had started this project as a simple mobile game with only purpose of it being published, so I could learn from it and have a published game even if it is super basic. Because of my scope being quite small at first, the design and code was fairly simple and not much expandable as I didn't planned for it. This caused me to rewrite a lot of the game just to make it expandable and only then I could expand it.

But rewriting was not much of a problem, it was the UI that was the problem. Making the UI work for multiple resolutions was and still is a pain. Like I mentioned, only after a day of work I could get it working ok. Notice I say ok, not good, just ok. But I am sick of working on UI and will not try to make it great or at least good anymore, I am tired of it.

So what did I change since last update?

Added

  • Online leaderboard for each difficulty mode
  • Quit button (It was not included at first because of mobile design reasons)
  • Keyboard navigation for menus (Important ones at least)
  • Harder and easier starts for according difficulties
  • Escape menu (More like a pause only menu)
  • New button textures
  • Probably many bugs

Removed

  • A couple possible bugs.
  • Nothing really
I don't know what else to write as I hadn't planned for this much so I will just not.

Oh, I also added some pictures to see how do they look in the post. Including the old vs new ui. (Yes the old one might have been better actually)

I will update the Itch page and update the game after finishing this post. So if you are reading this, it is probably live.
